Athirapally Waterfalls is located on the Chalakudy River and it is a major tourist destination in the area. The waterfall is located in the State of Kerala in the Thrissur District. It is a popular destination for families and it is an important picnic site. The waterfall is located amidst thick forests and the surrounding jungles are home to some endangered species of birds and many plants. There are many species of the endangered hornbill that can be seen in the area. The waterfall is one of the most scenic places to visit in the state. Many tourists from other parts of the country also visit the place. The Vazhachal Waterfall is located around five kilometers from the place and it is easily accessible from the Athirapally Waterfall. The waterfall is around 80 feet in height and a cool moist spray of water can be experienced up to a certain point. This is a good place for nature walks and trekking in the jungle. However this has to be done with caution as most of the jungle is thick with dense vegetation. Many Tamil and regional movies have been filmed at this spot as well. The river is filled with gigantic rocks, especially in the river.
