Kuttikanam A place for adventure tourism and trekking and a tranquil break. This scenic plantation town washed in the fragrance of cardamom is surrounded by lush, green hills.
Thrissanku Hills 4 kms from Peerumedu. The rolling hills, the lovely landscape and the gentle breeze make it an ideal spot for long walks. The hill offers a breathtaking view of the sunrise and the sunset. Peeru Hills 4 kms from Peerumedu. This picturesque hill station is a favourite haunt of trekkers and picnickers. The hill is named after Peer Mohammad, the Sufi saint, who spent his last days here. The mausoleum of the saint, the summer palace of the royal family and the residence of the Diwan situated nearby are all worth a visit. Grampi 5 kms from Peerumedu. Also known as the Parunthupara, the eagle rock, because of the panoramic view from its high peaks, has rocky plains, lush hillsides, forests and trekking trails. Pattumala 17 kms east of Peerumedu. Lofty peaks, little streams and ever-expanding tea plantations are the attractions of this place. The flower garden nearby is a fascinating roiot of colours, of roses, orchids and anthurium. Madammkulam A natural pond at the foot of an enchanting waterfall encircled by deep woods on all sides. Pattumala or the hills draped in silk, homes a lot of brooks and unending expanse of lush green tea plantation. The main attraction of the place is the Pattumala Matha church, built in granite. Valanganam Waterfalls The cool spray of this waterfalls is sure to be a thrilling experience. A hot coffee or tea from the nearby stall will add spice to this stop over. Pallikkunnu The highest peak in kuttikkanam the Amrita Medu is an ideal trekking spot. The surrounding hills of the Amrita Medu called kokkad hills is the place where one feels lulled by the soft gentle cadence of the breeze and chirping of crickets. Panchalimedu Viewpoint It is a view point located about 10 kilometers away from Kuttikanam. It ia an ideal place for trekking and Eco-friendly tourism. The winds here are sometimes so strong especially during the summer. According to the Hindu legend it was one of the many hiding spots of the five Pandava Brothers and their sister Panchali.Thus the name "Panchalimedu" was assigned to the place which means Hill of Panchali.Visit Vagamon 25 kms from Peerumedu. Vagamon is a hill station perched at an altitude of 1100 m above sea level. A trekker's delight, Vagamon is surrounded by beautiful meadows, valleys and tea gardens, which are all spellbinding works of nature.
Ayurveda at Sahyadri Ayurvedic Centre A well-established Ayurvedic centre, Sahyadri, managed by the Peerumedu Development Society in Pallikunnu is well known for its curative and rejuvenating treatment packages. The centre has well-developed treatment accommodation facilities, a unit for manufacturing ayurvedic medicines and a well maintained raw drugs museum, where more than 200 varieties of rare and endangered drugs are preserved. Visit Plantations The vast expanse of tea and coffee plantations interlaced with small streams pen grasslands and winding lanes filled with heady fragrance of fresh tea and coffee flowers are typical to this place. The cardamom plants below towering huge shady trees are a landmark of this region and a boon to farmers. Trekking at Kolahalamedu Never ending spans of short small hills with green carpets of grass for miles. These are the unique speciality of Vagamon. These hills are exactly located at Kolahalamedu 3 kilometer away from Vagamon town on the way to Elepara. Visit Tribal Settlement The Orali, Malapandaram and Malayarayan tribes live in the hills of Peermede. The main tribal settlement here is Plakkathadam which is also known for its trekking trails.Nearest bus stations: Peermade has both private and KSRTC bus stands in the town itself.
